Snapshot Sunday – Desert Timber
Desert Timber
In a sea of sand the occasional tree sprouts. Does it know it’s fight for survivor is fleeting? Yet, it reaches for the sun. The same sun that hinders it from long-term survival, dries the desert floor and ultimately ends its life by dehydration.

Mmmm… yes. It had to be either California or Nevada. Death Valley: perfect. Nowhere is the desert more stark, more punishing, and more beautiful.

Amazingly I took an almost identical photo when in Death Valley a few years ago and posted it on my blog the other day. The light is much better in your photo but I love the coincidence! 😄 https://42world.wordpress.com/2016/06/12/death-valley-hot-stuff/

You’re right! The tree is more exposed in my shot, the wind must have blown the sand off of it over time.

Yes, the similarity is amazing. I love these images of Death Valley. You can see my own from earlier this year in three posts that start here: https://woodswomanwrites.com/2016/03/05/worth-a-thousand-words-wildflowers-in-death-valley/

Wow. I love how life flourishes in even such an apparently inhospitable place as this. Fascinating to visit there.

Thanks for bringing back the memories of my own trip earlier this year, just a short time after yours, that I shared on my own blog.
