A Different Shade, Alaska Revisited
I’ve always been intrigued with black and white, or monochrome, photography. It brings out emotions and the feeling of nostalgia in a versatile format easily used for portraits, architecture, landscapes and urban landscapes. I love the subtlety of the tone and the simplicity of the photo but at the same time the many tones that can be achieved. There is less distraction and the focus is on the subject, it’s raw and honest. While I was taking these photos in Alaska I knew I had the perfect subject matter for monochrome photography.
